You made it to our final notes (and should now prepare to take the quiz)!
We have two sets of final notes:
- Students who have research opportunities
- Students who do not have any research opportunities
Feel free to read both, and please keep HSAFP Management up-to-date on your research opportunities through the ongoing discussion board!
For students who do find/have already found opportunities:
Hooray! Congratulations!!! It is wonderful that you have already found opportunities. If you particularly love research, you may consider becoming a physician-scientist!
There are MD-Ph.D. Summer Undergraduate Research Programs if you are passionate about research, have research experience, and wish to take this career path.
If you already have research experience or are currently working on something, feel free to share what you did/are currently doing on Connect with your peers (Presidents and Vice Presidents, start a post or discussion board under your private chapter group about the research opportunities that you have had)!
For students who cannot find any relevant research opportunities:
Just like research and the scientific process, things don’t always go according to plan. You might not find any relevant research opportunities this year, or the next. In high school, this is normal. Even in many undergraduate programs, there is difficulty finding research opportunities for a number of reasons.
Before selecting a college or university to attend for your bachelor’s degree, we suggest considering how important research might be in your future and exploring your possible options.
In the meantime, keep volunteering, shadowing, networking, working on your academics and standardized test skills, and continuing to participate in HSAFP!
