How to Use This Month’s Curriculum

Chapter Presidents and Vice Presidents, hello! For this month (and in the future), you will want to think and plan together about how you will use the curriculum in your meetings.
We have a few recommendations (let us know if you decided to do anything different!):
- Presidents and Vice Presidents, plan to discuss the first week of the month about how you both envision including the curriculum in your meeting(s) for the month.
The videos total are about 30 minutes, and the discussion questions, at a minimum, will take about 45 minutes. If there are thorough discussions, this might easily add on fifteen to twenty minutes.
Therefore, depending on how many meetings you have per month, you will want to plan accordingly. Select one of the following below:

If you have 1 HSAFP Hour Meeting per month
- In March, watch four of the videos and discuss the questions as a group.
- In April, watch the last five videos and discuss the questions.
- Use Dr. Nelson’s question at the end of each video to have a 5-10 minute discussion on each question.
- If you have more than 25 members, we suggest splitting up the members into groups (the easiest way is to just divide the groups up are based on where they are seated) to discuss questions.
- Give everyone 3-5 minutes to discuss the question in their groups.
- Come together as a group to discuss!
- Please tell your members they have the opportunity to ask Dr. Nelson their emergency medicine follow-up questions and share what you were most excited to learn about in the curriculum this month on the March 2025 with Dr. Blair Nelson Discussion Board. Please post by Monday, 3/31!
- It is encouraged for all members to follow along with the Connect course on an electronic device as you watch the videos!
- Share a short HSAFP Virtual Patient Viewing Party video on your HSAFP Chapter Instagram as a Reel!
- If you are looking for more involvement from current members or new HSAFP members for next year, advertise your viewing party on social media and elsewhere!
- If your chapter has one meeting per month that is shorter than 45 minutes, we suggest for your members to watch some of the videos on their own and watching some of them as a group.

If you have 2+ HSAFP Meetings per month:
- Split up the videos, depending on how many meetings you have.
- Use Dr. Nelson’s question at the end of each video to have a 5-10 minute discussion on each question.
- If you have more than 25 members, we suggest splitting up the members into groups (the easiest way is to just divide the groups up are based on where they are seated) to discuss questions.
- Give everyone 3 minutes to discuss the question in their groups.
