September 2025: Debunking Medical Myths

Hi HSAFP members! Welcome to our NEW year of curriculum and activities!

For our first month this year, we are focused on addressing myths about medicine by asking our network of physicians to help us explore these myths together. All of these activities address some common myths in the medical television shows, about medical school, and about your health that you won’t want to miss!

Our September Curriculum Activities

The HSAFP Executive Team has created three activities this month for you and your local chapter to do in and outside of your HSAFP meeting(s):

• Activity I: Our “Medical Myth or Reality?” Quiz
  
  
• Activity II: Our Monday, 9/29 Webinar with physicians Jeanie Gribben, MD and Matthew Momjian, DO
  
  
• Activity III: A lesson about sunscreen and the different types of UV rays, featuring dermatologist Kachiu Lee, MD.

In September’s course, you’ll also want to view more about new HSAFP developments with curriculum activities and make suggestions for our HSAFP Chapter of the Year Awards. The HSAFP Executive Team will consider all of your thoughtful, feasible suggestions! 😊

Note for Chapter Officers:

Just a reminder: please draw on any and all of the activities provided in this course for your future HSAFP meetings and individual development (and remind your members of the activities that you may not get to during meetings but they can do on their own!).

In addition, this will be the first month of submitting the three “assignments” (curriculum, research journal, and Instagram post) that count toward the Chapter of the Year Awards (see the Chapter Officer Guide for more information). These submissions will always be at the end of the course each month. Let the HSAFP Executive Team know if you have questions!
